BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

Sambit Datta studied architecture at the School of Architecture, CEPT University. He completed his graduate and doctoral studies at the National University of Singapore and the University of Adelaide respectively. His research is focussed on the computational representation and analysis of formal and spatial typologies in architecture. This has led to the investigation of codified building typologies (such as temple); vernacular typologies (such as shop-houses) and large scale spatial infrastructure evolution (such as street networks). His research contributions are in the application of formal and computational methods for their analysis, representation and reconstruction. Understanding and developing a formal theory of variability, serialization and temporal evolution of the built environment is his central theoretical area of interest.
