BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT
Dr Sela Akdag is a Lecturer in Mining Engineering at WASM, Curtin University. He obtained his PhD in 2019 from the University of Adelaide (UoA) that was a part of an ARC-LP project. Before joining to Curtin University, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Australian Centre for Geomechanics (ACG), University of Western Australia, contributing to a strain burst project funded by MRIWA. In 2020, Sela joined UoA as a postdoctoral researcher on an ACARP-funded coal burst project. Recently, he was appointed as a postdoctoral researcher for a CRC-P on ground support reinforcement project at the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering, UNSW Sydney. Sela's expertise spans rock mechanics, experimental and computational geomechanics, and fracture mechanics, with research focusing on rock/coal burst and ground control engineering.
