BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

Associate Professor Lisa Tee is an OLT National Teaching Fellow (2016) and an inaugural Curtin Academy Fellow & Executive Member (2014) appointed in recognition of her leadership and excellence in Higher Education. In her capacity as Director of Learning and Teaching (L&T) (2008 to 2015), Curtin Academy Fellow and Chair of Pharmaceutical Biology Subject Committee, Lisa actively contributes to strategic plans, building leadership capacity and excellence in L&T amongst colleagues at the school, faculty and university levels. Lisa chaired the School L&T Committee, represented the School and Curtin Academy on Faculty and University L&T matters through participation on relevant committees including Faculty T&L, Faculty Academic Board, Curtin Higher Education Research Committee, Curtin Academy Advisory Group, Working Party for MOOCS, Working Party for Digital Learning@Curtin and recently Working Party for Teaching Academics. Lisa’s excellence in teaching has been recognised nationally, institutionally, by the faculty and Curtin’s Student Guild. Lisa’s teaching aims to empower students with the learning skills to understand difficult concepts by approaching it in a systematic, logical and memorable way. She utilises 21st century learning tools and technology to empower students to engage effectively in the new wave of blended learning. This was the impetus for the creation of VitOOLs, which Lisa co-founded, and recognised with a Curtinnovation Award in 2021. Through lived experience with the goal and passion to assist patients, carers and clinicians in diagnosis of complex clinical cases, Lisa is presently working collaboratively with a circle of colleagues and clinicians in developing an automated system in the transformation of 2D medical imaging into 3D visualisation, creating the “3D virtual patient”. Lisa is the founder of the MyCourseMap, an innovative visual interactive curriculum map to provide students with clear vision as they navigate through the complexity of their course. Through development of an upward spiral curriculum structure based on building a solid foundation in Pharmacology, students are inspired and challenged to achieve core competency in their application of drug knowledge to clinical practice. Lisa’s leadership and excellence in teaching led her to her appointment to register of expert for TEQSA, OLT/AAUT assessor and recognition with ALTC Excellence in Teaching Award 2011. In 2014, Lisa was appointed to the new role of Teaching Academic to inculcate innovation and excellence in teaching and to lead transformation of L&T at Curtin University. In 2016 Lisa was appointed an Office of Learning and Teaching (OLT) National Teaching Fellow. Lisa’s mission is 'Learning and Teaching with triple E: Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy'.
