BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

Anwyn Shoemark is a practising architecture graduate and PhD researcher whose work explores the intersection of architecture, construction, human rights, and the circular economy. Her research investigates how building design and digital workflows can be used to strengthen human rights due diligence and address modern slavery risks across construction value chains.

Drawing on professional experience across residential and commercial architecture, master planning, and urban design, Anwyn brings a practice-based perspective to interdisciplinary research. Her doctoral research focuses on embedding human rights and supply chain traceability within established architectural workflows, with particular interest in Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital technologies, and circular approaches to material use.

Her research aims to develop practical approaches that enable architects and other built environment professionals to make more socially accountable decisions about materials, procurement, and construction. Through this work, she seeks to contribute to a more transparent and socially responsible built environment in which human rights are considered alongside environmental and technical performance throughout the material value chain.
