Dr Qassim Saad is an industrial designer, researcher, educator, and HDR supervisor whose work connects making with critical inquiry and design futures. Originally trained as a furniture maker, he brings material intelligence and craft-based knowledge to creative practice research, positioning design practice as a rigorous form of knowledge production. His research examines the intersections of culture, human behaviour, technology, and lived experience in shaping meaningful design and futures-focused practices. His commitment to inclusive design, design in post-colonial contexts, and design futures is evident through his role as convenor of the 'Futuring Craft' IOTA international conference since 2021.

As a dedicated educator and mentor, Dr Saad supports emerging scholars in cultivating reflective, ethical, and socially engaged design practices, which respond creatively to contemporary technological and societal transformations. He holds a PhD, MA, and BA in Industrial Design and maintains an active international research and publication profile
