BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

Dr. Lisha Dong works as a Research Fellow in Mineral Processing, Metallurgical Engineering, and Chemical/Environmental Engineering and Technology at the Western Australian School of Mines: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering, Kalgoorlie Campus at Curtin University. I work together with Associate Professor Bogale Tadesse, Laurence Dyer, Richard Alorro, and Senior Lecturer Boris Albijanic on several mining industrial projects partnered with BHP, and Venture Minerals, and I also work with researchers from other global universities.
I joined WASM (Kalgoorlie) in February 2023. During the period I worked here, I was awarded several grants to attend internal conferences such as the World Mining Congress 2023, Women in Mining WA Summit 2023, Ignition Program 2023, and Trailblazer Project meetings both in 2023 and 2024.
I was awarded my PhD degree in Mineral Processing and Metallurgical Engineering from the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Queensland, financially supported by the Australian Commonwealth Government and the University of Queensland. I graduated from the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Sydney with a Master of Philosophy. During my master's studies, I was financially supported by the Royal British Society and the University of Leeds to visit and work in the Energy Research Institute at the University of Leeds for around half a year. The University of Sydney also awarded me a travel grant to attend the international conference of Chemeca 2013.
I have extensive experience as an undergraduate and postgraduate thesis research project supervisor and I'm passionate about building capacity and skills in the next generation of young leaders.
