BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

My name is Hoa Van Nguyen. I am currently a Lecturer at the School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Curtin University. I am also an active member of The Intelligent Sensing & Perception Laboratory (ISPL), a leading multi-object systems laboratory in Western Australia.

I completed my PhD in June 2020 at the School of Computer Science, the University of Adelaide (UoA). I’m working on using commercial drones (UAVs) to search for, localise, and track multiple, time-varying, and unknown numbers of mobile objects. I’m focusing on developing smarter algorithms to navigate UAVs to search and localise mobile objects in the shortest possible time with reasonable accuracy.

I received my B.E. degree in electrical engineering from Portland State University, Oregon, U.S.A., in 2012. I worked as a process engineer and data science engineer at Intel Products Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from 2012-2016.
