BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

My background is in epidemiology, health promotion, public health and intervention research. I have qualifications in human biology, health promotion, public health and sports medicine (epidemiology).

Much of my work during the past 30 years has been as part of collaborative teams that aim to prevent, manage and/or treat of chronic conditions through behavioural, nutritional and physical activity initiatives.

I have led many successful community-based research initiatives in the areas of primary health care, nutrition, physical activity, injury prevention, workplace health, child health; and with those at highest risk of poor health outcomes such indigenous populations, children and at- risk youth. I also provide comment on government policy and consultation processes that relate to health and medical research.

For the past decade I have been working with regional communities to support the medical and health workforce; facilitate community involvement, and engage clinicians in collaborative approaches to health care access and delivery.
