BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

Peta-Jane is a Lecturer in the Curtin Law School. She is passionate educator with a focus on equipping first year law students with the skills they require for success at law school and in the legal profession. Peta-Jane combines her teaching work with research on Australian legislation on human trafficking and modern slavery.

Peta-Jane has a PhD in law from the University of Western Australia. She came to academia after a career working in the professional services sector, including as a commercial lawyer. After being admitted to legal practice in 2006, Peta-Jane worked for leading law firms in Perth, Sydney and London. During her time in Sydney, she also volunteered at a community legal centre, helping to serve the legal needs of recent migrants to Australia. It was this experience which prompted her doctoral research on human trafficking and modern slavery.

Peta-Jane is open to supervising doctoral students and collaborating on research projects in areas relating to human trafficking, modern slavery and business and human rights.
