Dr Md Redowan Mahmud is a Senior Lecturer in Computing and Cybersecurity at Curtin University, Australia. His research focuses on designing secure, trusted and resource-efficient IoT systems spanning edge, fog and cloud environments.

His notable contributions include FogBus, a blockchain-enabled framework for end-to-end IoT–edge/fog–cloud integration, research advancing the modelling and evaluation of edge–fog environments using iFogSim and iFogSim2, and Con-Pi, a distributed container-based framework for resource sharing and microservice execution on edge and fog devices. These contributions support his broader work in distributed resource and service management, edge intelligence, quality of service and experience, cybersecurity, blockchain-enabled systems, and dependable computing for consumer, healthcare, energy and defence applications.

Dr Mahmud received his PhD in Engineering from the University of Melbourne, where he investigated quality-of-service-aware application management in fog computing environments. He has been listed in the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientist Rankings for five consecutive years since 2021. He has contributed both as a lead and co-investigator to competitive projects funded by the Australian Research Council, Australian Government departments, the Defence Science Centre, Cooperative Research Centres, WA Health and industry.

He currently serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Reliable Intelligent Environments and has held editorial roles for special issues in the IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, Elsevier Internet of Things, Frontiers in the Internet of Things and Electronics. He is an active reviewer for several leading IEEE, Elsevier, and Springer journals, and serves on the technical program committees of flagship conferences.
