BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT
I am an educator, researcher, and writer, specializing in children’s fiction, travel writing, and digital and social media. I currently teach and coordinate units as a sessional academic (casual lecturer and tutor) in the Creative Writing and Digital and Social Media programs of the School of Media, Creative Arts, and Social Inquiry, Curtin University. In this role, I develop and deliver content for the Travel Writing and Writing for Children units offered via Open Universities Australia (OUA) via Curtin University. I have been teaching at the tertiary level for 25 years, in face-to-face and online environments in Australia and India, delivering and designing content to students of creative writing, Internet studies, professional writing, journalism, and mass communication. I began my professional career as a full-time writer and senior copyeditor for Britannica.com India Pt. Ltd., and continue to edit, write, and publish in my academic career. My current research focuses on travel-themed children’s literature and blogging, as indicated by recent publications and my research monograph titled Tourism, Travel and Blogging published in 2016 with Taylor and Francis. My creative practice mainly constitutes children’s short fiction and juvenile features for the Indian national daily, The Hindu and assorted poetry. I am a sporadic blogger at https://perthinent.wordpress.com/
