BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

I am a nurse midwife researcher motivated by clinical experience to work in partnership with women and communities. My research spans qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods and participatory approaches, and often involves multilingual data and engagement with culturally and linguistically diverse populations. My aspirations for my research are to generate evidence and co-develop initiatives to strengthen health systems to deliver woman-centred care that is inclusive, equitable and responsive.

As a midwife research associate, I lead a grant-funded evaluation of cross-cultural communication at the Women and Newborn Health Service. I also contribute to research exploring women's experiences of induction of labour and gestational diabetes, and projects evaluating models of care and midwifery workforce initiatives. In gynaecology nursing research, I support research scoping women's sexual and reproductive health knowledge, investigating women's pain, and evaluating vulval cancer wound care practices.

Currently, I am a PhD candidate with the Curtin School of Population Health. My doctoral research explores the health information experiences of women of refugee background from Myanmar living in Western Australia. Using a community-based participatory action research methodology, I am seeking to co-design service and policy recommendations with women and their communities.
