BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

I am privileged to be living in Western Australia, on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, the lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people, surrounded by nature, with a loving family, and to have a job that allows me to continuing learning and contributing.

I feel that my life has come full circle - as a child I was fascinated with nature, I thrived on music and computer coding, and at university I focused on relationships, making friendships for life. Now I get to combine all of these within the field of psychology, and wider, across the world.

On the one hand, I try to answer big questions - What is the holy grail of psychotherapy? What is consciousness? What scientific theory can explain human behaviour? On the other hand, I want to be practical and everday, to make sure that people in the community have what they need to make the changes that support their relationships, mental health and wellbeing.

Every day I recognise the polycrisis we are in due to the pace and single-mindedness of industrialisation and technological advance, and I make the contributions I can to address this. At the same time, I try to make sure I spend moments in every day cherishing the gift nature has provided us. Consciousness is the icing on the cake of a series of evolutionary fortunes over billions of years, and this defies gratitude.
