BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT
I am currently a Professor of International Business and Innovation in the School of Management and Marketing. I am also a Fellow of the Curtin Academy and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). I have previously held several leadership roles at Curtin including Dean L&T for FBL (2022-2025) and Discipline Lead (DL) of the Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Strategy and International Business (IESIB) discipline (2021-2022 and first half of 2026) and Course Lead for several undergraduate and postgraduate courses. I led the design of the exciting new multi-disciplinary Bachelor of Innovation.
I am passionate about both discipline based research and iSoLT. On the discipline side, I research on topics related to global mindset, frugal innovation, renewable energy adoption, ethical decision making, FDI and IHRM. My publications have appeared in Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of International Management, Management International Review, Business Strategy and the Environment, European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Energy Policy, Renewable Energy, Journal of Open Innovation, Journal of Business Research, Personnel Review, European Management Journal, Asia Pacific Journal of Human Resources, Employee Relations and Energies among others. I am also a Senior Editor for Asia Pacific Journal of Management and an Associate Editor for Journal of Open Innovation. The renewable energy project has been funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) (2027-2029).
On the iSoLT side, I research on topics related to employability, work integrated learning and student agency and have published in journals such as Studies in Higher Education, Higher Education, Higher Education Research and Development, Education + Training, Studies in Continuing Education, International Journal of Management Education among others. I am also an Associate Editor for Higher Education Research and Development. Projects have been funded by Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success (ACSES) and Australia Business Deans Council (ABDC) among others.
On the teaching side, I believe in student-centric learning and aim to provide high profile industry engagement opportunities through transformative expereinces including study tours (e.g., Silicon Valley). As a believer in the democratisation of higher education, I have also co-authored a freely available fully online MOOC titled Disciplined Approach to Social Entrepreneurship, via the MIT EdX platform. Moreover, I have also been the academic lead for Curtin Ignition between 2018-2021.
Also enjoy being an engaged dad to two kids, playing sport (golf, tennis and pickleball), traveling and indulging in ice-cream :)
