BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

Dr Humphries is a Senior Research Fellow at Curtin University, Australia and has previously held research positions in Canada, Norway, Denmark, USA and Japan. He has been studying metal hydride materials for over 17 years. In this time, he has gained expertise is in the synthesis and characterisation of metal hydride compounds for hydrogen storage, thermal energy storage and solid-state batteries applications. Thermal and structural analysis of these materials is a key aspect of the research conducted by Dr Humphries and he has considerable experience in techniques including DSC, TGA, PCI, XRD and NMR spectroscopy. Dr Humphries has also constructed a variety of sample cells for in situ measurements using NMR spectroscopy, XRD and neutron powder diffraction allowing for real time determination of reaction pathways.
