BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT
Dr Susbin R. Wagle is a bio-nanotechnology scientist whose research focuses on the design, development, and translation of advanced drug delivery systems for metabolic, sensory, and neurodegenerative disorders. He completed his PhD in Biomedical Science and Pharmacology at Curtin Medical School, where he developed bile acid-functionalised polymeric nanoparticles for targeted antioxidant delivery to address oxidative stress-related complications, including retinal degeneration and hearing loss.
His expertise spans nanoparticle formulation, translational drug delivery, and preclinical evaluation of novel therapeutics, with particular interests in ocular, auditory, and nose-to-brain delivery technologies. His research has been recognised through several awards, including the CHIRI Highest Impact Publication Award and the Chancellor's Letter of Commendation.
Dr Wagle has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and actively collaborates with academic, industry, and healthcare partners to advance innovative therapeutic technologies towards clinical application. He is currently supported by the 2025 Western Australian Early-Career Child Health Researcher Fellowship (BrightSpark Foundation), where he is developing nanoparticle-based therapies for inherited retinal diseases in children.
