BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

Dr Arash Arami-Niya is a Senior Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at Curtin University and a researcher in clean energy, gas separation, carbon management, and sustainable process engineering. His research focuses on the development of advanced porous materials and adsorption-based technologies for applications in hydrogen storage, direct air capture, carbon dioxide separation, helium recovery, and natural gas processing.

Dr Arami-Niya leads the Energy and Materials Innovation platform, a multidisciplinary research initiative integrating materials development, molecular modelling, and process engineering to address challenges associated with the global energy transition. His work combines fundamental science with industry-focused solutions, with projects spanning hydrogen technologies, carbon capture, critical minerals processing, and sustainable resource utilisation.

He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles, attracting over 4,700 citations, and has secured research funding from industry, government, and national research programs. He actively collaborates with partners including CSIRO, CPC Engineering, BP, the Future Energy Exports CRC, and leading international universities.

Dr Arami-Niya teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate Chemical Engineering programs and supervises HDR students working in hydrogen, adsorption science, carbon capture, gas separations, and sustainable process engineering. He welcomes opportunities for research collaboration, HDR supervision, and industry engagement in areas related to clean energy and decarbonisation technologies.
