BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT
Associate Professor Sajib Mistry is a researcher in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, and Software Engineering at Curtin University, Australia. He serves as Director of Graduate Research in EECMS, Course Coordinator of the Master of Computing, and Associate Director of the High-Performance Intelligent Systems research group.
His research focuses on distributed and collaborative AI, federated learning, Machine Learning as a Service (MLaaS), service computing, cloud and edge computing, IoT, autonomous systems, and trustworthy and adaptive AI. His work particularly explores intelligent systems that can operate in dynamic, distributed, resource-constrained, and mission-critical environments.
He has secured or contributed to 21 competitive and industry-linked research grants worth more than AUD 10.8 million, including major Australian Department of Defence programs in distributed machine learning, mission-critical platforms, combat-system architectures, autonomous systems, and secure intelligent computing. He is the Lead Investigator of the AUD 3.2 million Advanced Distributed Machine Learning Platform for Adaptive Autonomous Systems project and a Chief Investigator on several other multi-million-dollar research programs.
Sajib has authored or co-authored more than 65 peer-reviewed publications, including numerous papers in CORE A and CORE A-ranked venues*. His work has appeared in leading journals and conferences such as ICML, The Web Conference, WACV, IEEE ICWS, ICSOC, WISE, ICONIP, IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE TKDE, IEEE Network, and ACM TOIT. His research has received recognition including the ICSOC Best Research Paper Award and an IEEE Transactions on Services Computing Spotlight Paper.
He is Chair of the IEEE Western Australia Section and Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Western Australia Chapter, and also serves as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Services Computing. His broader academic activities span research leadership, HDR supervision, curriculum development, industry engagement, and mentoring early-career researchers.
