BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

Rebecca Handcock is a Spatial Data Scientist specialising in making sense of data, finding patterns, and communicating the stories the data tells. Rebecca’s broad research interests range from using satellite remote sensing and sensor networks to monitor agriculture and water, to using big data to study diversity in research publication patterns. She has held research positions within CSIRO and the academic sector and currently works as a Senior Data Scientist within the Curtin Institute for Computation. Her role with the Curtin Open Knowledge Initiative (COKI) focuses on data analytics and visualisation of large datasets, and translating between the technical and applied sides of projects. She is enthusiastic about support and mentorship for women in STEMM disciplines.
