BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

Dr Chidozie Anyaegbu is a Research Fellow at the Curtin University precinct of the Ralph and Patricia Sarich Neuroscience Research Institute building. His career focus on the role of the immune system in various diseases was ignited during his Bachelor of Science Honour program at Curtin University in 2008 and continued throughout his PhD in cancer immunology and biotechnology at the University of Western Australia in 2017, and postdoctoral research at the Colorectal Research Unit at St John of God Subiaco Hospital (2017 – 2019) and Curtin University (2019 – present). In his current role, mentored by Professor Lindy Fitzgerald, Dr Anyaegbu is using his interdisciplinary knowledge to provide novel perspectives on how damage spreads following traumatic brain injury. With a unique background in both gut immunology and neurotrauma, he is also passionate about revealing how brain injury alters the gut bacteria and immune system to prolong symptoms.
