BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

Dr Hayder Abdullah is a Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering at Curtin University. His teaching and research interests include soil mechanics, ground improvement, deep soil mixing, sustainable binders, geopolymer-treated soils, and bio-mediated ground improvement.

His research focuses on developing sustainable methods for improving weak and problematic soils, including the use of one-part geopolymers, bio-based treatment techniques, and alternative binders. His work includes laboratory investigation of the strength, consolidation, durability and microstructural behaviour of treated soils.

Hayder teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate geotechnical engineering units and supervises undergraduate, Master of Professional Engineering and PhD research projects. He is also actively involved in professional activities through the Australian Geomechanics Society WA Chapter and contributes to industry and academic engagement in geotechnical engineering.
