BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT
I completed my PhD in Mathematics and Statistics at Curtin University, where my research developed a framework for near real-time AFL match outcome prediction. Prior to this, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial and Applied Statistics, followed by First Class Honours in Applied Statistics, with an honours project focused on classifying sporting movements using accelerometer and gyroscope data through feature extraction in R.
I am currently a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Curtin University, where I teach and coordinate units across undergraduate and postgraduate statistics. My teaching experience spans introductory, intermediate, and advanced statistics, and I have been involved in the design, delivery, and redevelopment of coursework and assessments. I was nominated for the 2023 Excellence in Teaching Awards and have received consistently strong student feedback, particularly for enthusiasm, student support, clear organisation, and practical teaching.
My broader professional experience includes applied statistical work in areas such as petroleum mining and sports analysis, and I have co-authored several journal articles and conference papers in sports analytics, wearable technology, and AFL modelling.
