BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

Professor Jonine Jancey is a health promotion researcher and educator at Curtin University's School of Population Health, where she has held academic and leadership roles since 2010. She currently serves as Director of the Collaboration for Evidence, Research and Impact in Public Health (CERIPH).

Professor Jancey's research addresses pressing public health challenges across the life course, with a particular focus on tobacco and e-cigarette control, youth vaping, alcohol and injury prevention, physical activity and nutrition, and sexual health. Her work translates evidence into policy and practice, informing legislation such as Western Australia's Public Health (Tobacco and Other Products) Act, and has attracted sustained competitive funding from bodies including the NHMRC, Healthway and the WA Department of Health.

She has authored close to 200 peer-reviewed publications and has held senior editorial roles including Editor-in-Chief of the Health Promotion Journal of Australia (2012–2018) and Associate Editor of the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Her contribution to the field has been recognised nationally, including as one of only seven researchers ever named a Fellow of the Australian Health Promotion Association, alongside awards for Leadership in Health Promotion and Early Career Research.

Beyond her own research, Professor Jancey has played a significant role in building capacity in public health, having led or co-supervised more than 20 completed Higher Degree by Research candidates and currently supervising a further cohort of doctoral students. She has also held major leadership positions within the School of Public Health, including Director of Graduate Research and Acting Deputy Head of School, shaping research strategy and mentoring the next generation of health promotion

Professor Jancey also contributes to the research community as a grant reviewer for the Cancer Council, Dementia Australia Research Foundation and Healthway. She serves on the board of the Australian Council on Smoking & Health.
