BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

I am a Research Fellow at the John de Laeter Centre, Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia, and the coordinator of the AuScope Geochemistry laboratory Network (AGN). I lead a national team of analytical geochemists to enhance the capability and capacity of geochemistry laboratories across Australia. My work focuses on advancing geochemical data management, international best data reporting practices, and laboratory developments. I oversee key initiatives within AGN, including the AusGeochem platform, outreach efforts, and fostering a FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) geochemistry data ecosystem. My strategic objectives include improving laboratory capabilities, developing new analytical techniques, standardising geochemistry data, supporting user access, and promoting best practices in data management.

DEGREES

  • PhD, Isotope Geochemistry and Geochronology
    Curtin University, Perth, Australia
  • M.S., Isotope Geochemistry and Geochronology
Boise State University, Boise, United States
  • B.S., Geology
    University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyoming

CERTIFICATIONS

  • ELEMENT 2/XR 5-Day Operator Training Course
Thermo Fisher Scientific (Germany), Bremen, Germany
The inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer training courses are designed for customers who have purchased either the ELEMENT 2 or ELEMENT XR. Please note that all hands-on training will be made using the ELEMENT 2/XR. The general objective of this training course is to familiarize the customer with the instrument's features, operation and maintenance. Topics that will be covered include system optimization, mass calibration, data acquisition (using a variety of calibration techniques) and interpretation. Selected additional topics, depending on the customer’s installed equipment and its availability in the application laboratory, include cold plasma analysis, isotope ratio analysis and the use of additional sample introduction equipment (for example laser ablation and desolvating or ultrasonic nebulizers) in conjunction with the ELEMENT 2/XR.
