BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT
After completing a BSc and MSc in Plant Breeding and Crop Protection at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, Dr Kamphuis embarked upon his Doctorate at Murdoch University whilst working in the Australian Centre for Necrotrophic Fungal Pathogens (ACNFP).
In 2007 he was the recipient of an OCE-Postdoctoral Fellowship with CSIRO Plant Industry. From January 2011 to July 2015 Dr Kamphuis held a joined position with the UWA Institute of Agriculture, The University of Western Australia and CSIRO Agriculture Flagship.
Since November 2016 Dr Kamphuis holds a joined position with Curtin University and CSIRO Agriculture and Food. At Curtin University Dr Kamphuis is a Theme Leader with the Centre for Crop and Disease Management, leading a project on Sclerotinia stem rot in canola and pulses as well as a project on wild chickpeas. At CSIRO Dr Kamphuis is a member of the Molecular Plant Pathology and Crop Genomics Laboratory, in Perth, Western Australia, where his research focuses on legume crop improvement, focusing on the grain legume narrow-leafed lupin.
