BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT
As a staff member with the School of Molecular and Life Science, my duties involve designing and delivering workshops and laboratory learning activities, marking assessments, and managing Blackboard content for units to which I am assigned in any semester. I have worked with Cell Biology, Functional Biology, Ecotoxicology, Ecology, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Reseearch Project, Broadacre Crop and Pasture Science, Land and Water Resources, Climate Change and Adaptation/Global Environmental Challenges, Environmental Impact Assessment, and Applied Genetics. I also work with honours students and HDR candidates, providing coaching on project management and feedback on candidacy presentations, honours theses, academic writing, and verbal and visual presentations for professional meetings and academic publication. I have also worked at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, designing and delivering content in first-year Science Communication and Integrating Indigenous Science and STEM units, and as a facilitator in post-graduate STEM Research Methodologies units.
As a member of the Curtin University Behavioural Ecology (CUBE) Group, I conduct research on birds, reptiles, and small mammals. I have worked with the Conservation Council of WA's Fairy Tern Network, and assisted with their avian research efforts in southwestern WA, and work with Ghost Bird Consultancy on desert bird ecology in the Little Sandy Desert and urban bird communities in Perth's Whiteman Park ecosystems. I am currently undertaking research on the behavioural ecology of Western Bowerbirds, urban population density of Australian Owlet-nightjars, roost tree selection of Brush-tailed phascogales, and population declines in urban birds at Canning River Regional Park.
