BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT
During my time at Curtin, I have conducted and published research and have received almost $2.5 million in research funding, either solely or as a member of a team. I am committed to being active in research in my discipline areas as well as pursuing the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL).
I value the opportunity to learn by actively engaging in several national and international conferences (England, Scotland, France, Spain, and New Zealand). I have been an invited keynote speaker and panel member at numerous academic and professional educational events (Africa, Indonesia, and India).
My teaching at Curtin has been at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the primary and secondary education courses. I am an experienced research supervisor of Honours, M Phil, Ed D, and PhD students. I am a committed and innovative educator who has contributed to the development of curriculum in many units within the primary, secondary, and postgraduate M Ed and M Teach courses.
I have an extremely strong track record in service, engagement, and leadership through serving on international, national, and state-based boards, and professional associations, and active service on University level working parties and committees within the School of Education and the Faculty of Humanities.
My research interests include social justice and equity, literacy practices in schools, educational policy development and implementation, particularly through a sustainability agenda, climate change education, and the impact of nature on children’s affective and cognitive outcomes. My PhD is in education and I have published in the fields of teaching and learning, educational policy, women in academia, and sustainability.
