BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT

With nearly 25 years' experience working as a social scientist in the alcohol and other drugs field, I have developed a deep knowledge of unregulated drug markets, drug use trends, drug policies and harm reduction. I am committed to making drug policy more effective and equitable.

I have also mastered a suite of social research skills which can be applied beyond my topic area expertise, including: clear and precise writing, critical thinking, evidence synthesis, research logic and design, research methodologies (quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods), data analysis and research ethics.

Creating impact and lasting change from research is a crucial part of my research practice, as demonstrated through my inputs to coronial inquests, government inquiries and public forums.

From 2026-2030, I will be funded by Australia's National Health and Medical Research Council to lead a program of research to help Australia strengthen its response to an increasingly toxic unregulated drug market.
