BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH IMPACT
Dr. Suman Rakshit is Data Science Lecturer at the School of Electrical Engineering Computing and Mathematical Sciences (EECMS). His research interests are (i) Spatial and spatio-temporal point pattern analysis, (ii) analysis of geo-statistical data, (iii) applications of machine learning in spatial data analysis, (iv) mineral prospectivity analysis (v) agricultural statistics, (vi) genome-wide association study (GWAS), and (vii) statistical software development.
He teaches (i) Predictive Analytics Principles (ACTL 4003) and (ii) Data Visualisation (STAT 4011).
Dr. Suman Rakshit is also working at SAGI-West, Curtin University, as a Research Fellow, where the core focus of his research is to develop experimental designs for agricultural field trials and analysis of the trial data using advanced statistical techniques such as linear mixed model, factor analytic model, and spatial variogram modelling. The other area of his research focus is genome-wide association study for the analysis of quantitative traits of germplasms based on the maps of genetic markers.
Dr. Suman Rakshit has also worked as a Data Scientist for the Horizon Power and Prima Consulting before joining SAGI-West. He has published several articles in the field of spatial statistics and developed an R-package (spatstat.Knet https://cran.r-project.org/package=spatstat.Knet) for analyzing point patterns on a linear network. He received his PhD in statistics from Monash University and master’s degree in statistics from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
